Vacation day 2
We arrived in Newport by 4pm or so yesterday, after getting all the last-minute packing done, and stopping to get Angela's hair cut, and to pick up some goodies to take with us.

Meant to make a post before leaving, but, you know, busy. The nice motel folks installed wi-fi last year, so at least we're not COMPLETELY cut off from civilization. :)

Looking out over the ocean right now. It's easy to think of the ocean as sonething special, but looking at it, you realize, hey -- THAT covers 3/4 of the planet. It's DRY LAND that's actually the rarity.

Angela and I will dine at Szabo's (the REAL one) tonight -- then tomorrow, do our driving trip 25 miles south to Yachats and Cape Perpetua. On Sunday (our 6th anniversary), we'll have a proper date -- dinner (Tidal Raves, ritzy-spitzy) and a movie (Dark Knight). :)

The rest of the time, we'll be lounging around our HUGE motel suite, and sitting out on the deck, reading, watching the waves and feeding seagulls.

And trying not to feel guilty about leaving Buttercup in the kennel and Cally alone in the house (albeit with occasional human visitors)...

Isn't it interesting how largely civilization now resides in the aether?

I know Cally is somewhere in the house... but she has yet to come out and say "meow".
I sit and read on the couch, hoping her curiosity will get the better of her.... (since me calling "her Kitty Kitty Kitty" all over the house didn't work)
Maybe I'll try a treat when I go next time. :-)

I doubt that will work either. This is a seriously shy kitty. And she's been tormented by a strange man outside the window painting the house all weekend...

(It will be very odd coming home to a different-color house than when we left...) :)

Anyway, don't worry too bad about the kitty. She'll turn up in her own good time. Can you tell if the food's been nibbled at (it started off overflowing that big bowl)?

We're having tons of fun; see you Tuesday eve...

I brought a flashlight and peeked under your bed. Saw her finally. Feel better as I at least know that she is ok. :-)
The bowl is still pretty full, so I don't think she is eating a whole lot, but hopefully not on a hungerstrike.
I give her fresh water every day though.
I think Angela's parents locked your top lock, but I unlocked it easily when I checked on Kitty yesterday.
The blue looks pretty!
