Our Darkest Hour - Unbeliever's Land
...The continuing chronicles...
Our Darkest Hour
Yesterday, Congress passed a measure that suspends habeas corpus as pertains to the President. Bush can now LEGALLY do as he's been doing all along; imprisoning citizens and non-citizens without trial, without any formal charges, for as long as he likes -- and torture them in any way he sees fit.

There are no words.

Nothing excuses this. NOTHING!

READ THIS and then tell me again how inappropriate it is to compare Bush to Hitler...

Following is the list of TRAITORS TO AMERICA, who should, in ALL SERIOUSNESS, be executed for treason.

[Of note on this list, Oregon's own Gordon Smith (one of several Republicans who made noises against the bill before falling in line and voting for it), and John McCain, former tortured POW, who always made a strong point of being against torture until his "come to Jesus" talk with Bush last week.]

Not one Senator filibustered this bill. Yes, the bill had over 60 "yay" votes who could have broken the filibuster. But still, in our darkest hour, when we were LITERALLY ABOUT TO LEGISLATE OURSELVES INTO A FASCIST STATE, no one even made the pointless gesture of filibustering...

As bad as I knew a Bush presidency would be, I simply never imagined the extent to which one President (with a rubber-stamp Congress) could destroy America...
