Busy busy busy... - Unbeliever's Land
...The continuing chronicles...
Busy busy busy...
Long time no post!

A glimpse of my life right now:

1) Work deadlines are approaching ever faster, and I can't work on my REAL project (Waitlisting) because it's "my time of the term".  Every end-of-term (AND fourth-week Fall AND end-of-year), I have to work on SCARF -- the program that reports all of our "numbers" to the state so we can Please Have Some Money Next Year.  It's obviously very important.

Sometimes all I have to do is run it,
then when data errors are found and corrected, run it again, then when MORE data errors are found and corrected, run it again... until all the numbers line up and we can call them official.

Then there's times like now, when the state folks want lots of changes to HOW we report the data, which means more programming, and more working with departments to figure out how the heck to report what they're asking for...

And then there's times like, well, ALSO now, when the Banner software changes out from under us, and I need to make ADDITIONAL changes to SCARF to match the new sources of the data.  But of course, after doing all the work, it turns out that pulling the data from the new, correct sources is INCREDIBLY slow, and the only way to have SCARF run in less than 36 hours is to keep using the OLD data sources, which are "MOSTLY right"...  *SIGH*

2) Christmas is approaching way too fast.  Thanksgiving should be a week long (or more), if we're going to have any chance of getting everything planned out and bought before it's too late...

3) Right after Christmas, I'm going in for some nasal surgery (to remove a blockage in one nostril, and hopefully make breathing easier overall).  I'm told the surgery itself isn't so bad, but the week of recovery afterwards is MURDER...  This is why I scheduled it for the holidays, so I'd actually have some time off in which to recover...  Which reminds me.  I still need to go pick up the paperwork to get mailed in so the hospital knows I'm coming.  Yike.

4) This Weekend:
    a) Newsletter Weekend.  Time to assemble and mail out a new issue of the Freethinker.  (Note to [info]amaebi: I'm still planning on doing the email discussion thing, but it'll end up having to be for the January issue.  I've been writing questions in my head all this time, but I haven't gotten anything typed up yet.)
    b) Working house at the theater Saturday night, and staying to see the show ("The Homecoming").  Looking forward to seeing it.  Hope I'm alive and awake by then, because I also have to:
    c) Get the rest of my office clutter back into my office from the living room, because we need the room to:
    d) Transport all our Christmas decorations from storage to the living room, sort through them, test the lights, and get everything out onto the lawn.  How I ever let Angela talk me into outdoor Christmas decorations, I'll never know...  :)

You know, Christmas was never this complicated as a kid...
