Goodbye, Jerry - Unbeliever's Land
...The continuing chronicles...
Goodbye, Jerry
Jerry Andrus, world-famous magician, founding member of Corvallis Secular Society, and friend of mine for thirteen years, has finally died of cancer.  We've been expecting it for some time (see my first post about Jerry from March 13); frankly, given how bad the cancer was, it's surprising he lasted this long.

Still, it's a terrible loss.  Jerry was a truly brilliant and creative man, always exploring the myriads of ways in which the human mind could be fooled.  When he came to our secular meetings, he always had several of his illusions on hand, as well a collection of his writings to read from.  I sincerely regret not having had the chance to know him when he was younger.

The country would be a better place, if more people shared his kindness and wisdom.

Goodbye, Jerry.  We'll miss you...
