Fatal Revenant
Tomorrow (FINALLY!) is the release date of Fatal Revenant, the next book in the Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant.

A coworker of mine has managed to scare up a couple of 30% off coupons from Borders, so we'll be dashing off over lunch to pick up our copies. :)

And THEN, Friday evening, we're off to hear Stephen Donaldson speak and get our books signed up at Powell's in Portland! :)

Now the REAL question is -- can I tear through this entire book in three evenings (Tues, Wed, Thur)? :)

(My coworker cheated -- he bought a prerelease book reviewer copy off of Ebay a couple of months ago, and has already read the whole thing!)

Is there anyone else local who's interested in going?

Lord Foul is Covenant's father!

There, now you don't have to read it.

(of course I'm not that mean....)

I didn't think that reviewers were allowed to sell those. Are advance copies like this super expensive?

As I understand it, reviewers are not SUPPOSED to sell prerelease copies. They've probably signed an agreement NOT to. But many do it anyway, and nobody ever prosecutes them (it's probably not worth the risk that the reviewer will "punish" the publisher later with bad reviews).

And yes, my coworker paid Big Bucks -- in the hope of reading it quickly and re-selling it before the value dropped. (He wound up taking too long, though -- by the time he sold it, he could only get about a third of his cost back.)

We both bought official copies today -- so at least Donaldson didn't lose any money on my coworker... :)

Let's hope that my hubby doesn't find out about reviewer copies on Ebay. He already has an expensive book habit.
