Goodbye, Robert Aspirin... - Unbeliever's Land
...The continuing chronicles...
Goodbye, Robert Aspirin...
Goddammit, I *JUST* grudgingly bought two of his recent MYTH books (grudging, because even though they aren't as good as they once were, and I'd sworn off of them -- they're still addictive little popcorn books and I've been reading them since FOREVER), and *NOW* I find out the man just died yesterday.

I mean, I haven't really given Robert Aspirin much thought lately, and JUST "came back to the fold", so to speak -- and the man goes and dies on me, like, the next day.  That's just RUDE.

Ah well.  The only thing I really knew him for was the MYTH books, and as I said, even those aren't really what they used to be.  But even so... dammit, the creator of Klahds, Pervects/Perverts, Deveels, Jahks, Trolls & Trollops is BY DEFINITION immortal.  He was still one of MY authors, and MY authors do NOT have permission to go and freakin' die on me!

Now I've gotta go get all the rest of the MYTH books that I seem to have... mythed...

Current Emotional State: blah blah

I saw him at the last SF convention I attended ...about twenty years ago, so this would have been close to the time I met you, Reed.

Asprin seemed pretty funny; I was especially pleased by his narration of "Gremlins Do Not Exist", which included a cartoon version of Frank Kelly Freas (pardon the art-geek shout-out). I gather that the narration thing was something he did a lot of on the con circuit.

I think the "Gremlins..." artwork itself was done by Phil Foglio, if you follow that sort of thing.
