Hillary part deux - Unbeliever's Land
...The continuing chronicles...
Hillary part deux
Yeah, OK, she finally said what needed to be said.  It was four days too late, and despite her best efforts, it looked begrudging as all hell -- but she did her duty, went up on that stage, swallowed her castor oil and said what she was virtually required by law to say.

So yay her, I guess.

But you know she's had that speech written for months, so what precisely did she hope to gain in those four days?  Was it really just a last bitter "fuck you" to Obama, denying him that extra bit of glory on that night?  (I note that McCain also gave a speech that Tuesday, trying to rain on Obama's parade -- but his speech was so bad, and attendance so light, hardly anyone noticed.)

People are trying to give Hillary credit now, for endorsing Obama, as well as for "fighting to the bitter end".  That's supposed to be a sign of strength, I guess -- absolutely refusing to recognize reality until literally four days AFTER you no longer have any choice.

That's not strength.  That's George W Bush.  That's scrunching your face, plugging your ears, and having a tantrum, rather than face facts.

I'm sure Hillary would have been a supremely gracious winner (she was "honored" to be on stage debating Obama, way back when she still thought she was gonna win).

But even after this speech, I still say, she doesn't lose well...

I agree. I'm just glad she did it, and it's over now.
