The Rest of the Trip - Unbeliever's Land

The Rest of the Trip
So -- the day after I made the previous post, the whales did an encore performance.  I swear, it must have been AT LEAST another thirty sightings or so -- only AS CLOSE AS THEY COULD POSSIBLY GET WITHOUT BEACHING THEMSELVES!!!

I kid you not, we were HEARING the spouts -- LOUDLY.  Fins and tails were clearly visible.  And the whole time this was going on, Angela and I were just awestruck...

Later in the week, seals joined the performance.  Several went swimming by, leaping out of the water repeatedly as they swam...

And on our last day, just as we were loading the car to leave, a seal decided to flop out on the big rock DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF OUR DECK and say goodbye to us.  We could have hit it with a fish, if we'd had a fish to throw.  :)

Best.  Vacation.  Ever!

Of course, Angela's been crippled ever since we made it back.  Hell, I was too, for about 24 hours.

Cally Coe Kitty was Highly Traumatized by our absence.  She spent the first couple of hours after our return, cowering and squeaking in terror.  Then she finally got it into her retarded cat brain that it was US, and promptly spent the rest of the day and ALL NIGHT LONG demanding attention and lovings, *NOW*!!!

We picked up Buttercup Beagle -- who was also Highly Traumatized by her week in doggy jail -- the next day.  Whereupon HER response was to lick us both thoroughly, and profusely apologize (in her way) for *ANY* misbehavior that could POSSIBLY have resulted in her stint in the pokey.  "I'll be good!  Really, REALLY good!  You'll see!"

Of course, the cat was Not Amused that we had to bring THAT creature home as well...

We owe Nina a huge amount of gratitude -- AGAIN -- for taking care of the cat while we were away, as well as for some extra work "above and beyond the call of duty".  (Hopefully, Nina knows not to blame herself for the cat's mental trauma -- Cally hasn't been "right in the head" since the Great Poisoning Incident of Early 2002.)

Thank you, Nina!  Coastal Trinkets await the next time we see you...

Current Emotional State: cheerful cheerful
