Conservative Reality - Unbeliever's Land
...The continuing chronicles...
Conservative Reality
I suppose it only makes sense.

After all, the right-wing nutjobs already have Conservapedia (literally, their own filtered view of reality).

Now they're doing it to the Bible with the Conservative Bible Project.

You see, the Old Testament is pretty OK, what with God zapping everyone all the time, for various reasons.

But the New Testament is full of wussy liberal Jesus stuff.  And since we all know Jesus was a gun-loving, Commie-killing, capitalist homophobe, that must mean the New Testament is WRONG!

So we're gonna write our OWN New Testament and fix all that stuff.

Go check it out.

Their problem with the Bible isn't that it's, you know, FICTION -- it's that occasionally, when Jesus encounters poor folk, he DOESN'T beat them with sticks.

Frankly, I'm still stunned by the mere existence of Conservapedia -- it is the most  frank, tacit admission I know of that "reality has a liberal bias"...

For people who believe that the Bible is the Word of God, they sure seemed determined to do violence unto it.

Ah, guess I just have to make a comment to display my slightly relevant icon here. ;)

The Hebrew Bible is all wussy and liberal, too. Even in the story parts, which are the fiercest, God keeps choosing people who are a mess. And the prophets are All About living out community in mercy, not screwing each other, supporting the trailing, and like that.

I'm also stunned by this project. If it were just cutting they wouldn't have much Bible left.
