Eh -- Angela and I actually DID like the movie OK... but then again, we're sci-fi/fantasy/comic nerds. We're USED to putting up with shit -- but doesn't mean we don't hope for better. This was a case where the movie SHOULD have been great, and it just... fizzled out.

The effects were fine, the basic story was fine, the actors were fine... but the editting and/or direction SUCKED. The characters (even the supposedly Infinitely Wise Gaurdians) all act like blithering idiots. They never have any reason for what they're doing.

And the Big Bad threat to the entire universe? The one that has the most powerful beings in the galaxy ready to abandon everything they stand for because he's Just Too Tough? Can be damaged by Earth weapons (not even nukes) and destroyed by his own stupidity.

It's possible that a Director's Cut might solve much of the problem. An extra half-hour giving us some characterization, some REASONS for why certain characters act like they do, some EXPLANATIONS for what looks like pure stupidity, would work wonders.

Though I'm not sure any amount of hand-waving would explain that ending...
